- I am an Associate Professor in the School of Sociology and Anthropology at Sun Yat-sen University. I earned my Ph.D. (2016) and M.S. (2012) in Sociology from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Law (2010) from Zhejiang University. My work has been recognized with several honors, including the Junior Scholar Award from the American Sociological Association’s Section on Drugs & Society, the title of Outstanding Professor and Researcher by USCIS, and the Scientific Advancement Prize from the Government of Zhejiang Province.
- My research explores how supra-individual contextual factors shape health behaviors and outcomes. I focus on the impact of structural contexts—ranging from cultural diversity to economic modernization—on health and well-being. My studies draw on data from diverse societies, including China, North America, Kazakhstan, and Russia, to examine the relationship between contextual background and health.
- My research has been supported by provincial, national, and international sponsors. Findings from these projects have been published in leading social science journals, including Social Science & Medicine, Sociology of Health & Illness, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Science Research, Chinese Journal of Public Health, among others.
